Diana Ross and Tracee Ellis Ross form an exemplary mother-daughter duo.
They have completely charmed us over the years, attending glamorous side-by-side events, performing together on stage and also offering the occasional glimpse into their sweet personal dynamics.
There was also the time Tracee presented her mother with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Music Awards in 2017, while wearing one of Diana’s iconic ensembles.
Recently, Tracee set out to recreate the inimitable style of singer The Supremes with a tributary portrait inspired by this vintage photograph of Diana. “No.1: MAMA,” she captioned the original photo on Instagram.
“No. 2: ME,” she captioned a second post with a portrait of herself reproducing the gorgeous photo – apparently including the mother’s original pearl necklace.
“N ° 3: NAILED! Tracee captioned a third photo taken in her recent photoshoot – because she absolutely did.
The actor gave Diana credit for instilling a love for fashion from a young age and recognized the fundamental impact the legendary performer had on standards of style and beauty in general.
“The Diana Ross the world knows – that sort of global and international icon who led the way and sort of changed what glamor looked like and who black women in the world were, especially in that capacity,” said Tracee during an appearance on Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series, No filter with Naomi, earlier this year.
“Her Diana Ross is not holding a candle for her mom,” Tracee added. “I’m so close to my mom and my family… She made a place in the world before I got here and it’s been part of how I’ve been able to travel the world.”
